WE Women

Beyond The Beauty

It is important for women to dig deeper beyond the superficial aspects of life that are so greatly broadcasted by society. Even with a career as a model, Lauryn has found a way to live a life of meaning.

In 2007, Lauryn founded “Because I’m A Lady Ministries” (www.becauseimalady.com) with her mother, Kathryn Royster. According to their website, “Because I’m a Lady” is a ministry for women and girls of all ages and from various backgrounds. They help set women and girls free from chains that bind the spirit and the mind. They address dealing with depression, suicide, rebellion, peer pressure, substance abuse, domestic abuse, sexual misconduct, low self-esteem and spiritual incompetence. Because I’m a Lady Ministries meets every 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 4-7pm at 17508 Carriageway Unit A/D in Hazel Crest, Illinois. The mother-daughter duo also hosts an online radio show every Wednesday from1-2pm (listen live at intellectualradio.com).

Like a true entrepreneur, Lauryn also established a clothing line with her brothers in honor of her late brother, Mario McRoyal, called Rio Clothing (www.rioclothingco.com). Rio Clothing aspires “to encourage positivity, inspire uniqueness, and applaud determination.” Overall, Lauryn’s life outside of her career as a model is dedicated to helping others live purposefully. WE commend you!

So thankful I got a chance to read a glimpse of the great ministry that Lauryn has helped create with her mother! Her poise and great spirit speaks for itself in everything she does.
